Are you ready to lead impactful research and help shape Scotland’s response to future challenges? ASA is partnering with a prominent public sector organisation to recruit a Research Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives by learning from the past to improve the future.

About the Role
As a Research Manager, you will lead research and analysis activities, overseeing a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate, inclusive, and impactful findings. Your expertise and leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the reports and recommendations of this critical initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Lead the research and analysis team to plan, manage, and execute a series of report publications.
  • Research Management: Oversee the design, analysis, and delivery of research while ensuring data protection and ethical considerations.
  • Methodology Application : Utilise and guide the use of qualitative (e.g., NVivo) and quantitative (e.g., R) tools for analysis. Provide training and support where required.
  • Collaboration & Engagement: Work closely with public engagement staff to ensure meaningful participation and efficient project logistics.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and address potential blockages.
  • Additional Duties: Support other activities within Let’s Be Heard as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated expertise in applying diverse social research methods to address complex questions.
  • Proven ability to critically evaluate large datasets and research evidence with precision and insight.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) for engaging stakeholders and influencing decisions.
  • Significant experience managing all stages of research, including design, execution, and dissemination.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis is highly advantageous.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree (with practical experience) in social science, public health, or a related field with substantial focus on qualitative and quantitative research methods.
