We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join a large-scale digital transformation programme with our public sector client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administering Oracle databases, specifically versions 9, 10, and 11, in high availability environments, and possess experience in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), ASM, and Solaris administration. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project that is central to the modernisation of public sector services.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide expert support for Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle ASM.
· Administer Oracle databases (versions 9, 10, 11) in a high availability environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and stability.
· Lead database upgrades and ensure smooth migrations to new Oracle versions.
· Participate in client and project meetings to assess needs and review design specifications.
· Analyse user requirements for existing and proposed database systems and develop technical specifications.
· Design, implement, and maintain databases for internal and external users.
· Establish, document, and enforce database standards and performance monitoring procedures.
· Develop and automate data import/export routines to facilitate smooth data operations.
· Write code and scripts as necessary to optimise database processes and performance.
· Build reports, windows, and screens to meet client needs.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in a production environment.
· Proven experience with Oracle versions 9, 10, and 11, including upgrades and administration in high availability environments.
· Strong understanding of Oracle database and operating system concepts.
· Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methods (RMAN, DataGuard, Commvault, etc.).
· Familiarity with Solaris 9/10 administration.
· Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
· Oracle Certification (Administrator Certified Associate/Professional) preferred.
· Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.
Desirable Skills:
· Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
· Strong technical documentation and standards implementation skills.
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance is required for this role.
