As a Porter, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of duties across hospital and healthcare environments, including:

– Transporting and disposing of waste in line with infection control and waste management procedures
– Ensuring controlled substances, specimens, and blood products are collected and delivered securely, with signatures where required
– Conducting internal and external patrols to ensure site security, reporting issues and taking action as required

– Supporting staff in de-escalating difficult or aggressive situations using trained techniques
– Sorting and handling internal and external mail, including franked mail services

To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

– Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
– Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment
– Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet service delivery within strict time schedules
– Working knowledge of basic information technology
– Manual handling – staff will spend 90% of time on their feet. A significant amount of manual handling is involved in the range of tasks to be undertaken

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:
– Previous experience or knowledge of portering within a healthcare environment would be beneficial, however, not a prerequisite as on-the-job training and induction will be given
– Working knowledge of Health & Safety, including participating in risk assessing individual tasks
– Required to undertake Prevention, Assessment & Management of Violence & Aggression (PaMOVA) training levels 1 and 2 if identified through risk assessments

– Weekly pay with competitive rates
– Flexible shifts available
– Full training and induction provided
