Senior Valuation Surveyor (Fife)
Our Client: Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Valuation Surveyor to lead their team in property valuation services. This role offers flexibility in working arrangements and a competitive salary. The successful candidate will play a key role in the valuation of commercial and non-domestic properties across Fife, as well as supporting staff and contributing to the Scottish Assessors Association’s national guidance.

Location: Fife (Hybrid working available)
Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time
Salary: £27.33 – £29.89 per hour
Purpose of the Role: This position involves managing and coordinating the technical staff responsible for property surveys and valuations, while taking a lead role in more complex cases. You will ensure that valuations are carried out in accordance with legislation and contribute to national guidance on property valuation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
· Valuation Expertise: Undertake the valuation of commercial and non-domestic properties in compliance with current legislation and case law.
· Manage Workload: Supervise and support technical staff in the collection and analysis of valuation data and the preparation of property valuations for Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating purposes.
· Advocacy & Appeals: Prepare and defend valuations at tribunal hearings and appeals, serving as an expert witness when necessary.
· Civil Penalty Appeals: Manage and oversee the Civil Penalty Appeal Process, including preparing submissions and presenting cases to the Local Taxation Chamber.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a professional and sensitive manner.
· National Guidance Participation: Participate in the Scottish Assessors Association’s activities and contribute to the development of national valuation guidance.
· Travel: Occasional travel across and outside Fife for valuations, hearings, and meetings.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Commercial/Non-Domestic Valuation: Experience in the valuation of commercial or non-domestic properties.
· Legislative Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of legislation and case law governing Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating.
· Assessor’s Office Experience: Previous experience in an Assessor’s office or similar environment is highly desirable.
· Advocacy & Expert Witness: Experience acting as an expert witness in tribunal hearings or appeals.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and diplomatic manner.
· Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel within and beyond Fife as required.
