ASA are currently seeking a Database Administrator / Data Analyst with expertise in Access DB to manage and enhance the project’s data repository. You will play a key role in ensuring the data repository is accessible and functional for the project team and contribute to data analysis, reporting, and structuring efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
· Data Repository Management: Manage and enhance the current Access DB repository seeded with 14.6k Practitioner pension member data. Create queries and screens for easy data access and interrogation by the project team.
· Data Output: Generate Excel outputs to prepare data for sharing with partner organisations.
· Data Structuring: Extend the data structure to support the import, separation, and comparison of data from partner organisations, identifying matching/non-matching data and discrepancies.
· Reporting: Create detailed reports, including financial liability/variance, member and contract statistics, and data validation outcomes.
· Risk Advisory: Advise on the limitations and risks of the current Access DB, and manage the transition to an alternative data tool if needed.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Manager, Business Analyst, and internal/external stakeholders on data requirements and project specifications.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
· Expertise in Access DB and SQL database management (maintenance, querying, manipulation).
· Proven experience in data modelling, reporting, analysis, and visualization.
· Ability to design and build dashboards using tools like Excel, Caseware IDEA, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
· Experience working on large-scale projects and engaging with stakeholders to define and implement reporting requirements.
· Ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and manage work effectively.
· Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to lead on data initiatives.
· Must be able to support the transition to Apex Oracle after Excel.
· Self-starter with the ability to work independently on MS Access.
Desirable Skills:
· Experience and knowledge of pensions.
· Data analysis qualification.
· 5+ years’ experience as a data analyst.
Additional information:
· Initial on-site work may be required, with potential for remote work and occasional office attendance by prior arrangement.
· Scottish Government Security Clearance Basic Disclosure check will be required
