Data Protection Assistant

Description

A rare contract opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection Assistant in Edinburgh with a contract length of 20 months. This is a key role in a high profile and challenging Inquiry which would suit someone who has high level of accuracy, and an ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues.

As a Data Protection Assistant you will:

· Work with key business areas to understand and document how they handle personal data
· Manage, review and carryout due diligence on vendors/third party suppliers
· Help to complete Data Protection Impact Assessments and report on risks to the Data Protection Officer
· Assist the Data Protection Officer to respond to Data Subject Requests where you’ll develop templates and tools to help improve the process
· Monitor and report on compliance with data protection policies and procedures and auditing the effectiveness of controls introduced into business

Essential criteria:

· Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple demands and meet deadlines
· Ability to provide concise evidence based information for review and consideration
· An understanding of data protection issues and the handling of special category and other sensitive data
· IT Literate
· Personal resilience and the ability to deal with what can be a distressing subject matter
