Redaction Manager

Description

A rare contract opportunity has arisen for a Redaction Manager in Edinburgh with a contract length of 19 months. This is a key role in a high profile and challenging Inquiry which would suit someone who has excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, and an ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues.

Working within the Document and Evidence team, you will play an integral role in organising and collating robust information from a variety of sources to ensure the Inquiry considers all relevant information as part of the investigations.

As the Redaction Manager you will:

· Understand General Restriction Order and Data Protection policies to complete redaction checks
· Allocate redaction checks to different teams
· Support colleagues in ensuring a joined-up approach is taken to the implementation of the Redaction Policy
· Monitor redactions and suggest changes to update the guidance if necessary.
· Working with colleagues, manage the provision of high quality and timely advice, to colleagues conducting redaction checks.
· Apply changes to documents where restriction order changes have been approved
· Edit and proofread batches of documents to high degrees of accuracy
· Produce and manage information sharing with external stakeholders
· Manage the creation of ciphers as part of the redaction process
· Publish documents on the Inquiry website

Essential criteria:

· Proven experience as a Copywriter/Editor or related role
· First-class writing, editing and proofreading skills
· Strong research skills
· Understanding of data protection issues and the handling of sensitive personal data
· A high degree of resilience and ability to deal with what can be a distressing subject area
