Future of Recruitment event
I recently attended the Future of Recruitment conference at the Glasgow Science Centre on the 1st of June, it was an excellent event with great speakers and even better discussions well done Firefish for hosting a brilliant event.
Below is a summary of 4 speakers that I found most engaging;
Greg Savage The Savage Truth
The witty Australian with a proven history of opening & running global recruitment companies.
Greg delivered his views on the recruitment sectors future and the impact social media is having. To be an effective recruiter and successfully run a recruitment business, social media must be embraced. He emphasised the hard work it takes to build a social media profile, but its importance in the modern world of recruitment.
Kai Murray Kai Consultancy
Kai previously spent over 10 years as MD of Search Consultancy
Kai Murray gave a very informative piece on how to grow your recruitment business, giving advice about the key stages of growth and the difficult hurdles that come with it.
Bill Boorman TruMunity
The man in the hat
Bill hosted a master class on networking and stressed the importance of being a prominent member of your community. He encouraged us to be more willing to give to our networks without the expectation of getting something in return.
Johnny Campbell Social Talent
CEO of Social Talent, the worlds leading provider of online recruitment training
Johnny brought the day to a close and with his team of resourcing ninjas, gave an excellent insight and demonstration into the capabilities of sourcing via social media.
Overall, a recruiters core skill is to engage both parties using our knowledge and influencing skills, this hasnt and wont change we just need to become more effective using more relevant mediums.
The Future of Recruitment was well attended and it was great to see this type of event being held in Glasgow. It has given me the opportunity to stop and think about my own skill set and plan a more effective social media strategy.
Definitely a worthwhile event and look forward to attending next year.
