Are you an experienced Communications professional who is looking to join an organisation that can make a real difference to society?

Our Edinburgh based client is looking for a Senior Communication Officer to join their team initially from January to March 2025 with the possibility of this being extended.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively increase the promotion, awareness and understanding of sentencing across Scotland
  • Develop and expand digital resources for the client’s website, create engaging social media content and implement the Communications and Engagement Strategy
  • Devise key metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and enhance public engagement
  • Organise events and conferences
  • Work proactively with media and policymakers to promote initiatives and enhance public understanding
  • Identify promotion opportunities and develop skills in areas such as strategic and financial management
  • Drive awareness raising activities to strengthen the client’s public profile

Key Applicant Requirements

  • Communication & Engagement: Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication, with experience creating materials for media, social media, and public engagement.
  • Interpersonal & Collaborative Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities to foster effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and to provide constructive feedback, including to senior leaders.
  • Autonomous & Collaborative Work Style: Proven ability to work independently and within teams to manage a high volume of varied tasks efficiently.
  • Technical Expertise & Innovation: Skilled in website development, content management, media handling, and social media management, with the ability to set objectives and manage priorities creatively.
  • Political Awareness & Criminal Justice Understanding: Political insight paired with knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Skills in project management, procurement, and proficiency in tools like Umbraco and InDesign would be desirable

This role will be based in the Edinburgh office but will offer hybrid working. The role offers a maximum day rate of £250.
