Description

Are you an experience Maintenance Inspector looking to join a team to make a positive impact in their community? We have an excellent opportunity for you to join our Public Sector client as a Maintenance Inspector.

The Maintenance Inspector will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for comprehensive building maintenance for a designated group of properties. The successful applicant will manage tasks effectively, balancing technical competence, compliance with statutory regulations and cost efficiency to deliver effective solutions.

Key Tasks

  • Maintenance Service Delivery: Ensure properties are safe, secure, legal, and operational within the allocated maintenance budget.
  • Problem Resolution: Apply technical expertise to resolve issues in a complex environment with minimal guidance, adhering to current policies and legislation.
  • Customer Liaison: Serve as the initial point of contact for customer enquiries and maintenance requests
  • Property Audits: Conduct regular property audits, condition surveys and other assessments to gather and manage property-related information
  • Contractor Supervision: Prepare specifications and tender documentation for minor works, supervise contractors in occupied buildings and liaise with occupants during planning
  • Decision Making: Make appropriate decisions to advance projects, ensuring contractors meet specification, price and quality standards. Conduct project reviews and report on contractor performance
  • Legislation Compliance and Awareness: Ensure all activities comply with building and property-related legislation
  • Reporting: Write reports providing recommendations and advice as needed
  • Service Improvement: Identify service provision gaps, engage with customers to determine service level requirements and respond positively with recommendations

Applicant Requirements


Essential

  • ONC/HNC in a building related discipline or appropriate membership of a qualifying body or a time service tradesman with considerable supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of appropriate current regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience of construction/maintenance process, at technical or supervisory level
  • Computer literate, being able to use Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and work ordering systems

Desirable

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including Health & Safety, COSHH, Asbestos regulations, CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, and Water Bylaws.
