Are you a Finance professional with strong experience in reconciliations?

Our client in Edinburgh is looking for a Finance Officer to join their team on a full time contract for a period of up to 6 months.

Reporting to the Finance Business Partner you will assist with the finance processes across establishments. This will include assisting daily with reconciliation issues in relation to daily prisoner fund reconciliations, canteen and pin phones and at month end, ensuring that establishment month end reconciliations have been completed in accordance with the Financial Policy and Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and advice as required to Cashiers and Finance Managers (to include on-site support), analysing establishment monthly returns, and highlighting areas of non-compliance and potential risk.
  • Responsibility for the authorisation of establishment bankline payments, prisoner funds returns and cashbook payments.
  • Responsibility for the processing of changes to banking authorities.
  • Responsible for managing the SPS cashbook month and year end process and assisting establishments with month and year end reconciliations including prisoner funds and any other responsibilities as may be directed from time to time by the Finance Business Partner in relation to reconciliations and banking as required.

  • To assist with the completion of various month and year end reconciliations and accounting schedules, ensuring that these withstand detailed audit scrutiny and assisting the auditors with their enquiries.
  • Provide training to cashiers/relief cashiers as and when required.

Key Applicant Requirements

  • Hold a financial qualification at HNC level or above or willing to work towards e.g. AAT, CAT
  • Extensive reconciliation experience with the ability to resolve reconciling issues in a timely manner.
  • Experience of working in a finance environment using finance systems.
