Service Design Lead

Description

We are seeking a Service Design Lead for an exciting opportunity within a public body’s Chief Digital Office. As a Service Design Lead, you will spearhead projects that focus on designing future services and reshaping the organisation’s structure to deliver improved public services.

The role is being offered as an initial contract until the end of March 2023 with the possibility to extend further. The role is outside of IR35 and can be performed remotely for day-to-day tasks but there would be some local travel across Scotland expected occasionally.

The Role:
As a Service Design Lead, you will take the lead in designing the target operating model and roadmaps for change in local or central government services. Your responsibilities will include researching, prototyping, and designing inclusive public services. You will apply speculative design, system thinking, and foresight methodologies to envision preferable futures for governmental services.

Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage change, overseeing complex projects and teams, and shaping work through design briefs and terms of reference (TOR).
· Utilise visual communication to simplify complexity and engage stakeholders, unifying teams through common narratives.
· Articulate and implement a design-led approach, showing its impact on users and the organisation’s capacity to deliver its policy intentions.

Requirements:
· Proven experience leading Organisational and Service design projects in local or central government settings.
· Extensive knowledge of designing target operating models, roadmaps for change, and researching, prototyping & designing inclusive public services.
· Strong leadership skills, capable of managing complex projects and cross-functional teams, setting up design capabilities, and increasing design maturity.
· Proficiency in visual communication and storytelling to engage stakeholders at all levels, simplify complexity, and facilitate co-design.

Package on Offer:
· Remote working must be based in the UK.
· Outside of IR35.
· Initial contract until end of March 2024.
