We are seeking an individual to take on a crucial role managing technology equipment for a public body, ensuring efficient handling of IT inventory and stock control. This position requires overseeing various aspects related to the organisation’s technology devices, from ordering to disposal, maintaining stock reports, and ensuring effective usage balanced with operational risk.
The role is being offered as a contract for an initial 6 months, with the option to extend further, and is outside IR35. The role does offer hybrid working, but it will be mostly on-site in either Edinburgh or Glasgow.
The Role:
As the IT Inventory and Stock Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating the management of all IT equipment across the organisation. This includes overseeing the ordering, receiving, issuing, repair, and disposal of IT stock. Your duties involve producing stock reports, analysing stock levels, and ensuring efficient use of equipment while mitigating operational risks. Additionally, you’ll be instrumental in optimising inventory control procedures and maintaining well-organised stock rooms.
Responsibilities:
· Manage inbound and outbound deliveries, including unloading and liaison with couriers.
· Monitor and record deliveries within IT systems.
· Oversee stock control and space management.
· Analyse product supply levels and predict inventory problems or shortages.
· Produce regular reports and statistics on stock levels and consumption rates.
· Coordinate re-stocking requirements and procurement, including WEEE equipment recycling.
· Maintain strong engagement with various teams such as service desk, procurement, and platform enablement.
· Drive continuous improvement in inventory management processes.
· Ensure proper organisation of the stock room and accurate record-keeping.
· Develop options for managing Software Licence and Encryption Certificate assets.
· Create, review, and update Knowledge Base articles for each process.
· Support and deliver disaster recovery assurance for digital services.
Requirements:
· Previous experience in IT hardware inventory and stock management.
· Knowledge and experience of inventory management system principles.
· Familiarity with relevant warehouse or stock management IT systems.
· Proficient in conducting tracking and data analysis, particularly using MS Excel.
· Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
· Strong decision-making ability, attention to detail, and capacity to work independently.
Desirable:
· Experience in software licence management.
· Proficiency in championing process and system developments.
· Experience in managing stock levels balancing operational risk.
