ASA are currently looking for a Human Resources Officer based around the Inverness area. This is a temporary position, starting in January 2024 for an initial 3 month period with option to extend. The role is hybrid based – Predominantly home working, with some attendance at company HQ in Inverness area required. Salary on offer can range between £30,776.20 to £34,452.60 depending on skills and experience. Flexible working patterns for full time workers is on offer with this role – our client is looking for the right candidate for the right post and will consider discussions around work times and condensed hours.
As an HR Officer, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive service to managers, offering advice and guidance on the use of the client HR policies, guidance and procedures. You will be part of a small team that plays a key role in supporting the development of HR skills across company managers. You will undertake a diverse range of duties that will require a high level of confidentiality, impartiality and the ability to work on your own initiative.
Job Description – Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Provide advice on discipline and grievance procedures, including attendance at hearings and appeals.
· Actively listen, question appropriately and respond to HR enquiries, advising in accordance with company policy and procedure.
· Provide advice on a range of HR topics including performance and capability, retirement on the grounds of ill-health, redundancy and redeployment, and TUPE transfers.
· Cover the HR mailbox and helpline on a rota basis.
· Maintain confidentiality and remain impartial when dealing with sensitive issues.
· Contribute to the review and creation of company policy and guidance.
· Manage and organise own workload, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
· Support Managers with restructuring and contribute to their upskilling on HR best practice.
· Undertake job evaluation.
· Analyse data and provide concise reports.
· You will communicate effectively, at all levels, verbally and in writing and build successful working relationships.
· Work in partnership with Trade Unions.
In order to be able to carry out the duties of this post effectively candidates must evidence the following attributes:
· A good knowledge of policies, guidance and procedures, specifically HR and Health and Wellbeing.
· Experience of working in an operational HR environment and an understanding of employment legislation.
· Experience of Microsoft Office packages, including excel spreadsheets and sharepoint.
· Have a solution focused and proactive approach, with an ability to guide and coach managers to achieve appropriate outcomes.
· The ability to work solo and as part of a team, whilst using initiative and taking personal responsibility for own workload and delivering to agreed deadlines.
· Member of CIPD or willingness to work towards Certificate in Practice.
