Are you experienced within the Procurement industry and looking to take on a new role in the public sector?
ASA are currently working with a large-scale client in the public sector who are looking to recruit a Procurement Category manager on a temporary 12-month contract to support with the procurement of goods, works and services across a range of commodities including ICT, Education, Major Capital Projects and Leisure across their organisation.
Responsibilities of the Procurement Category Manager:
· Make sure contracts in your category follow the rules and best practices.
· Help achieve the company’s procurement goals.
· Create plans and documents for contracts, handle meetings, and communicate with suppliers.
· Work with departments to plan and manage buying processes.
· Learn about markets and share knowledge to improve our purchases.
· Teach colleagues about procurement and help them adapt to changes.
· Work with various groups to boost awareness of buying opportunities.
· Manage contracts and suppliers, ensuring everyone follows the rules.
· Attend and represent the procurement team in meetings.
Required Skills:
· Comprehensive Procurement Knowledge: Understanding laws, policies, and reform initiatives. Experience in strategic commodity planning reflecting market needs and client objectives. Proficient in high-value complex procurement and diverse training provision.
· Effective Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent verbal and written skills for internal and external relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, and procurement systems.
· Results-Oriented with Assertiveness: Focused on task completion and results. Confidence in interactions with internal services and customers. Actively seeks and acts on feedback for service improvement.
· Collaborative Team Player: Works well in a team, remaining transparent and open in collaboration both inside and outside the organization. Utilizes service-user data for service enhancements. Seeks learning opportunities and networking for continuous improvement.
