We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Service Designer to join a team and play a pivotal role in transforming public services for the benefit of the end users. As a Senior Service Designer, you will lead the charge in crafting user-centric, efficient, and inclusive services that align with policy objectives.
The Role:
In this role, you will be at the forefront of designing the complete service journey, both digital and offline, to ensure users can achieve their goals seamlessly. Working closely with service managers and program directors, you will champion user-centred design principles and advocate for the active involvement of citizens, service users, and stakeholders throughout the design process. As a Senior Service Designer, your work will drive the development of design concepts and contribute to the delivery of services that meet both business requirements and user needs.
The role is being offered as an initial contract of 12 months with the option to extend and is inside IR35.
Responsibilities:
· Lead the design and implementation of services, strategies, and policies to ensure they effectively address the needs of both users and the organisation.
· Advocate for inclusive and collaborative service design practices and integrate them into service design and delivery processes.
· Effectively communicate design approaches and insights to foster productive discussions and collaborations within the team.
· Collaborate with other user-centred design practices to ensure cohesive service delivery.
· Emphasise the value of iterative design based on user feedback, continually refining services based on real user experiences.
· Facilitate the design process through clear and impactful visual communication of ideas.
Requirements:
· Proven experience in a senior service designer role, encompassing a wide range of service design activities. This includes guiding team members, negotiating design briefs, leading service design initiatives, and delivering user-focused service outcomes.
· Proficiency in selecting and applying user-centred design methods across different design life cycle phases and scenarios, from data gathering to co-creation and prototyping.
· Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey design approaches and insights, stimulating meaningful conversations and collaborations.
· Knowledge of other user-centred design practices and the ability to collaborate with them for comprehensive service delivery.
· A passion for promoting iterative design based on user feedback to enhance service quality.
· Adeptness at visually communicating ideas to facilitate the design process effectively.
