We are seeking a Data Protection Practitioner to join a public body at the heart of the Scottish Government.
There is a large data project being undertaken by the organisation, and as such they require expertise in assisting how data is used for decision making and providing services to end users.
The organisation is based in central Glasgow and operates a hybrid working model. This role is being offered as a contract until the end of January 2024.
The Role:
As outlined above, this role will see you be part of the existing team that aims to enhance data governance and improve how various organisations share data. The role specifically requires someone to ensure that data is shared appropriately and how this data impacts decision making.
Responsibilities:
· Contribute to a transformative Data and Analytics initiative reshaping data utilisation in Scottish public sector business support organisations.
· Engage in developing and testing the Master Customer Record technical solution.
· Align partner organisations in data governance, compliance, architecture, and user experience.
· Enhance Data Governance and foster improved data sharing practices.
· Collaborate with multiple Data Protection Officer (DPO) colleagues for the regional Master Customer Record implementation.
· Advocate and facilitate compliant data sharing based on relevant guidance.
· Develop and adapt a Data Governance framework for organisational and partnership use.
· Implement centralised data quality processes, identify enhancement opportunities, and work with data stakeholders to embed robust data quality and life cycle management practices.
· Demonstrate the benefits of improved data quality and knowledge to stakeholders through advocacy of data governance.
· Apply metadata management, including data cataloguing.
· Incorporate applicable legislation (e.g., Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, Public Records Act 2011) within the data governance framework and processes.
Requirements:
· In-depth expertise in data governance policies and procedures, encompassing data quality, knowledge management, stewardship, ownership, metadata management, and business glossary.
· Proficient knowledge of data governance theory, standard methodologies, and practical applications, including efficient implementation.
· Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to identify key stakeholders, communicate clearly and regularly, tailor messages to stakeholders’ needs, build relationships, and foster consensus among multiple stakeholders.
· A proven capacity for self-learning and staying updated on industry standards and practices.
