There is a fantastic opportunity within a dynamic data team serving a prominent public body in Scotland for an experienced Data Engineer. The public body is continuing its digital transformation project and so is seeking an experienced professional to assist with this. The role is offering an initial 6-month contract with the option to extend and is outside IR35.
The Role:
The role is designed to accelerate the development of the public body’s data warehouse and associated products and services. The Data Engineer will be responsible for data integration solutions and automation of data products and services, with the overall aim of assisting with the digital transformation and improved efficiency of operational and commercial activities.
Responsibilities:
· Create a testing system to collect and analyse data from diverse sources, such as PDFs, simplifying information processing.
· Automate the creation of data products related to the Data Warehouse.
· Ensure the technical robustness of all data systems.
· Enhance and support existing data products for both internal and external stakeholders and ongoing data engineering tasks.
· Collaborate with technical experts to design robust data systems.
· Follow best software development practices to deliver high-quality, maintainable systems.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues in both development and production data systems.
Requirements:
· Strong and demonstrable experience with Data Engineering projects, ideally from a similar role.
· Proficiency with specific technologies, including Python, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, AWS, and more.
· Experience in collaborative software development.
· Knowledge of natural language processing and machine learning.
· Previous experience with data systems, data streaming, and data integration.
· Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
· Utilisation of testing and quality practices.
Package on Offer:
· Hybrid working with occasional visits to Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.
· 6-month initial contract.
· Outside of IR35.
· Rate of up to £500 per day DOE.
