There is a fantastic opportunity for a Power BI Developer to join a large public body operating a technology service at a national level in Scotland. The main objective of this public body is to lead and develop programmes to help the organisation achieve its goal of being a digital-first service provider in the health and care sector.
This is a 4-month initial contract position with the option to extend further.
The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join their existing Data Engineering team. The primary objective of this role is to enhance technology operations within the organisation, aligning with the aspiration of becoming a fully digital-first service provider.
In this role, you will focus on analysing and interpreting data, creating reports to visualise this data for key decision-makers within the organisation. Furthermore, you’ll collaborate with the wider data engineering team to improve data quality and overall outcomes.
Responsibilities:
· Enhancing and troubleshooting current Power BI models by incorporating new tables, measures, and RLS.
· Crafting tabular model structures and implementing associated database structures, SQL queries, and PowerQuery processes to underpin these structures.
· Creating and managing intricate database triggers.
· Constructing, adapting, and deploying embedded Power BI reports.
· Collaborating closely with testers, developers, product managers, and fellow team members in NES Technology Service to ensure that work items consistently meet high-quality standards.
· Vigilantly identifying and raising concerns related to risks associated with data engineering and reporting processes.
· Actively participating in the identification and implementation of process improvements alongside other product and delivery team members.
· Facilitating knowledge sharing and encouraging the adoption of best practices.
· Acting as a representative for data engineering and reporting within the team, ensuring that data and reporting considerations are integral to discussions throughout our agile delivery process.
Requirements:
· Strong and demonstrable experience in a similar role where you have worked with complex data reporting.
· Proficiency in creating advanced SQL queries for analysis.
· An advanced understanding of designing and constructing tabular models.
· Competence in creating intermediate-level DAX measures.
· Accomplished in Power BI modelling and reporting at an organisational scale, including DAX measure creation and knowledge of optimal data structures for Power BI reporting.
· An advanced understanding of Agile Methodologies.
· Confident with operating at all levels of data reporting and presenting to key decision makers.
· Proficiency in implementing Power BI Row Level Security.
