Our retained client is a long established professional body based in the centre of Edinburgh. The Finance Manager is a key role acting as a trusted advisor between finance and budget holders providing valuable analysis and insights to positively influence decision-making processes.

You will be responsible for a small team to deliver all areas of finance reporting processes and have a proven track record of taking the lead on continuous improvement projects and driving efficiencies within the department.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Management accounts preparation and financial reporting including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets and forecasting
  • Analyse and present insights from finance and operational data raising awareness of business performance and trends
  • The ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance individuals
  • Ability to deep dive into data, existing processes, and technology and challenge to identify issues, opportunities and improvements which could be made
  • Oversee Payroll function and Credit control
  • Audit preparation
  • Statutory compliance, reporting and accurate submissions to HMRC, including VAT
  • Ad hoc duties to support the finance function

You will require:

  • Previous experience of working in a varied and hands-on finance management role
  • Experience of managing a team with a track record of developing people and teams
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel
  • Strong communication skills including building relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and present data to convey clear financial messages
  • Attention to detail
