Do you have experience in taking Witness Statements?

ASA Recruitment are looking to source experienced Witness Statement Takers to support a large Scottish public sector inquiry. This long term contract role is suitable for candidates based in the Edinburgh area, to work on a hybrid basis.

If you started in this role today you would be…

• Taking statements from witnesses and preparing an accurate first person account of the witness’s testimony
• Working closely with the Witness Manager and the Legal Team to prepare for the taking of statements, including agreeing the line of questioning ensuring that all areas relevant to the Inquiry are covered
• Working with the Documents and Evidence Management Team to ensure that all relevant documentation that may be referred to is available during the statement taking e.g. witness folders, audio recording, catering, and witness expenses
• Ensuring a post-interview review with the Witness Manager is held, highlighting key areas and ensuring the draft statement has captured the key points

So, what are we looking for?

• Significant experience in taking witness statements and accurate note-taking to capture accurate statements
• Considerable experience in dealing with members of the public in what can be difficult and stressful circumstances
• Previous experience of working on an Inquiry would be desirable but not essential
