Are you a qualified solicitor with excellent knowledge of the criminal justice system?

ASA is looking for a Criminal Defence Solicitor to permanently join our public body client on a part-time or full-time basis. Business demands have increased for the organisation during post-pandemic recuperation, so your experience is highly sought after.

Your purpose within the position would be to provide first-rate criminal legal defence services within the courts and at police stations.

If you started in this role today, you would be…

· Provide advice and representation to clients who are subject to criminal investigations or criminal proceedings.
· Adhere to practices, procedures and Codes or Practices to ensure the maximum efficiency of the service.
· Build and maintain excellent client relationships and contribute positively to the organisation’s profile within the area.
· Represent the organisation in its relationship with external bodies such as other help agencies in the advice sector or local support charities.
· Assist in training staff within the organisation as required.

Who are we looking for?

· You will have one year’s experience in criminal court defence using Scots Law.
· You’ll also have one year’s experience advising and assisting suspects in police detention.
· You will be a self-motivated person with well-developed communication and presentation skills.
· You will be an excellent organiser who can reach objective results while maintaining adaptability and flexibility.
· An innovator that can influence and convey ideas for others to understand.

What will you need?

· A clean driver’s license with immediate access to a car.
· A full unrestricted practising certificate from the Law Society of Scotland; however, a restricted practising certificate may be considered.
