Description

Are you a Social Work Assistant looking for a new challenge?
Temporary roles are an excellent way to level up in your career or to make a quick return to work. Given that you have some experience, a temp role will provide you with a range of new contacts and experience. All temporary roles have the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.
A vacancy has arisen within the Early Intervention and Prevention service for a Community Care Assistant in the Access Team working 36 hrs per week. The team covers North and South Perthshire, as well as Perth City and so you must be flexible and able to respond to need as required. Due to the nature of the work, a driving licence is essential.

We are looking for 2 Social Work Assistants for the Access Team (based in Perth but will cover the whole of Perthshire) and 2 Social Work Assistants for the North Locality (based at Blairgowrie).

The Early Intervention and Prevention Service provides a first point of contact for adults and carers who wish to access Social Work Services across Perth and Kinross. We support Adults age 16+ across all client groups. For new clients we will carry out Early Intervention and Prevention work in localities for up to 12 weeks. This work is supported by a range of partners including GP’s and 3rd sector organisations. Our aim is to enable people to live more independently in their communities – providing care and support at the right time, in the right place, when it is most needed.

The successful applicant will assist in maintaining vulnerable people in the community by providing a range of social care and care management tasks. These include carrying out Outcome Focused Assessments, the negotiation of flexible packages of care, and the monitoring and reviewing of individual care packages delivered via SDS (Self Directed Support).

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will be motivated and engaging, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Effective time management is essential for a successful autonomous worker to manage a complex caseload with the ability to be flexible and respond to crisis / competing demands being integral to the role.

You must have strong assessment skills and be able to demonstrate an understanding of SDS and how this is delivered. The ability to integrate and cultivate successful links within the team and across services is highly desirable. Knowledge of services, challenges, demands, and demographics within Perth & Kinross would be an advantage.

You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of social work principles and values.

Knowledge of Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity legislation, along with an understanding of carers legislation would be desirable.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children and adults.

36 hours, Monday – Friday 08.45 – 17.00 with an hour for lunch.
£ 26897 per annum
