Children and young people in West Lothian are regularly cared for within their own families with the input of our statutory health and education services. However, some children, particularly those living with disabilities, could benefit from extra support from Social Workers to increase their overall well-being. Social Workers working with Children and Families of this need, assess the needs of children and young people and offer a variety of vital supportive services so that they can be properly looked after and live their life to the fullest.
Taking this into account, our client is seeking a diligent locum Social Worker within a Children with Disabilities Service in West Lothian. The successful Social Worker will be tasked with undertaking an integrated range of social work services in relation to the holistic promotion of child welfare, care of children in additional to support to their families. The nature of support could include, making arrangements for care placements for children with disabilities who require residential support outwith the family home, preventative efforts and collaborations with multiple agencies such as the education, health and police service to create the opportunity for the best possible outcomes for vulnerable children in West Lothian.
Examples of working in partnership with further services and health and social care professionals could include conducting joint interviews with Police and preparing reports for the Children’s Hearing system amongst many others. Undertaking child protection investigations such as risk assessments for individuals with disabilities is a core element of the role so it is anticipated that the successful Social Worker for our West Lothian clients with be able to perform these without supervision.
To be considered for the role of locum Qualified Social Worker for Children with Disabilities in West Lothian you must:
· Have a degree or equivalent in Social Work
· Enjoy working with children with disabilities and have experience working in this field
· Have a membership with the PVG scheme and the willingness to undergo an update
· Have a full UK driver’s licence and access to a car
· Be available full-time, asap
