Your new role:
The Treasures Exhibitions Officer works within and Public Programmes team, which develops and delivers exhibitions, events, outreach activities and web resources which increase access to the collections, create learning and engagement opportunities, and engage new audiences.
As the Exhibitions Officer you will:
· Lead the practical completion of the Gallery including management of external designers and sub-contractors, detailed install schedules, sign-off on design work and final snagging
· Manage onsite operations in liaison with internal teams
· Contribute to final decision-making regarding installation of exhibits with Collections Care and Curatorial teams
· Be responsible for overarching project management including budget management and reporting
· Edit and produce written interpretation for first rotation of exhibits (due in October 2022)
· Co-ordinate wider engagement programme in collaboration with web team, oversight of AV elements, app content, liaison with learning, events and communications teams on production of content and publicity
· Co-ordinate project and programme evaluation
· Collaborate with marketing and external relations teams to deliver marketing and promotion of Treasures, including social media campaigns
Essential skills required:
· Experience of exhibition development and production in a cultural heritage environment
· Experience of working in a project environment, delivering on multiple activities to ensure competing deadlines are met
· Experience of collaborative and multi-disciplinary team working
· Experience of contract and budget administration and management
· Excellent creative and practical design skills
· Excellent organisational and time management skills to plan, co-ordinate and deliver multiple projects and programmes to a number of different deadlines
· Excellent interpersonal skills for building effective working relationships both internally and externally
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills, e.g. for writing and editing of exhibition and publicity copy, and for production of reports and contracts
· Strong customer focus with a commitment to improving visitor experience
· Sound knowledge of emerging and current trends in exhibition design and production
· Good knowledge of Scottish culture and history, and an awareness of the significance of the national collections
