Payment and Procurement Officer

Description

We are seeking a Payment and Procurement Officer to oversee and provide cover for the operation of day to day payment processes ensuring all monthly reconciliations have been completed and are correct. Utilising your expertise, you will also provide operational procurement support and advice to colleagues. Based in Edinburgh, this Payment and Procurement Officer role is for 2 months initially.

Duties include:

· Continuously improving the finance service to internal and external customers. In particular, introducing e-invoicing and e-tax payments
· Ensuring that financial records are accurate and information is correctly and timeously posted to the ledger, and back-up is correctly filed
· Ensuring financial policies are up-to-date, communicated to staff and properly applied
· Providing effective line management support to a small number of direct reports
· Providing back-up support for the two Senior Budgeting and Reporting Officers

Essential:

· Part qualified or working towards a professional accounting/procurement qualification
· Substantial experience of managing and motivating a team
· Understanding of relevant policies and procedures, as they affect the role, and the quality and standards and outputs required
· Strong IT understanding of financial systems including experience of working with computerised accounts systems
· Familiarity with Sun Accounts and Vision
· Evidence of implementing new/improved systems would be an advantage
