Are you a knowledgeable and well experienced Environmental Specialist looking for a new role?

ASA’s public sector client is looking to onboard a Principal Environmental Specialist to join their Spatial Planning and Environment team. The purpose of this role is to progress the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the draft emerging National Planning Framework 4 (MPF4) spatial strategy.

As the successful postholder you will undertake the following tasks:
· Facilitate workshops with key delivery partners to identify and map the likely significant environmental effects arising, and identify opportunities for mitigation / enhancement where relevant
· Evaluate and report on the anticipated significant cumulative and synergistic environmental effects of the overall emerging draft NPF4
· Quality assure the overall SEA Environmental Report to a high standard, ensuring consistency of findings which are clearly and effectively communicated
· Support the delivery of National Planning Framework 4 and the associated Integrated Impact Assessment

Requirements for this Principal Environmental Specialist role include:
· Widespread professional experience of Environmental Assessment at a strategic level, including full working knowledge of the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 and an appreciation of the benefits and difficulties arising and experience in overcoming complexities
· Experience of project management with an ability to manage workloads to deliver at pace to agreed deadlines
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and in particular proficiency in reporting in a clear and accessible way
· A degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant environmental discipline or in town and country planning
· Experience in coaching team colleagues to develop their professional environmental and planning skills
