Principal Chemist

ASA Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Principal Chemist for their Aberdeen based client.

Summary :

* Project Management – Design & Supervision.
* Evaluations and Syntheses of new materials.
* Product Development and Formulation.
* Product Performance Screening – Development of new evaluation techniques.
* Provide continuous improvements to internal and external customers through laboratory technical problem solving.

Main responsibilities :

* Work closely with company staff and the frontline sales force to assess and solve customer problems.
* Design supervise and carry out laboratory work and provide customers with a quality technical response.
* Continuously evaluate new raw materials and commercially available products.
* Identify raw materials to reduce the environmental impact of the existing product lines.
* Develop relationships with preferred suppliers and look for new products and suppliers.
* Develop a thorough understanding of company product range range and application. Continuous review of the physical and chemical application techniques for products.
* Design performance tests to ensure the company continues to offer the best technical and environmental solutions to customer problems.
* Keep abreast of developments in the field of department specific techniques.
* Identify new state of the art techniques.
* Evaluate new test apparatus or modify existing equipment to improve analyses or develop new types of analyses.
* Providing direction to the chemists assigned to work on department specific projects may be required.
* Train other members in the team in areas of product development testing.
* Supply appropriate support to Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing & QC/QA.
* Present all reports in a professional manner and be competent on the computer and software systems available.
* Be responsible for conforming to the design procedures and maintaining the necessary procedures for ISO comp-liance.
* Implement and follow company safety policy and procedures.

Education and Experience :

* BSc Hons and six plus years or MSc and three to five years or PhD and one to three years lab experience.
* Previous experience of molecular synthesis is required.
* Previous experience of managing research projects.
