Data Manager

Description

Our client within the public sector in Edinburgh is looking for a Data Manager. This is initially a 3 month contract starting in late January 2020.

Looking for a Data Manager with some experience with GIS data formats to join a multi-disciplinary team at the start of their journey.
They will be a self-starter with curious mind who will be part of a team that is working to help policy makers understand and use geospatial and other data to forge better outcomes for the Scottish people in the social, health, economic, and environmental fields.

Essential Skills required:

– Day to day running and support of a new geospatial data hub and its associated data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
– Liaising with data users, data suppliers, and data pipeline developers to resolve issues with data.
– Regularly monitor incoming and outgoing data streams for quality.
– Setting up data governance policies, practices, and working with the data pipeline developers to specify how the new system being developed can be enhanced to bake these policies and practices in.
– Ensure the governance complies with prevailing legislation and regulations, e.g. GDPR.
– Understanding and engaging with a large data stakeholder group to promote data sharing, re-use, and custodianship.
– Design and develop themed dashboards and other analytical products.
– Data Governance.
– Time management.
– Self-starter.
– Effective and professional communication skills, written and verbal.
– Ability to prioritise tasks.

Please note this role may require a Basic Disclosure and core hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
